Stump grinding is one of our most popular services, but not many people know about stump grinding or what is involved. Here are some of the questions our team at Tree of Eden often get asked.
Why can’t I remove stumps myself?
When you hire professionals for tree removal, stump grinding is not always included in the package. This means you will be left with a stump after the tree is gone. Some people attempt to remove the stump themselves… But we guarantee this isn’t a great idea!
Stumps are extremely tough to remove. With basic household tools you’ll find it’s nearly impossible. Professional machinery specifically designed for stump grinding is the only way to remove them. And since this machinery is dangerous, it’s best to hire the professional who have specialized training on how to use this equipment.
Will the stump grow back?
It’s very unlikely that the stump will grow back after our professional team have completed stump grinding. A few species of trees are more resilient than most, but if there’s a risk of regrowth we will advise you. In a few instances we might need to chemically treat the area to prevent regrowth, but this is quite unusual.
What happens to the tree’s roots?
Our standard stump grinding gets rid of the stump itself, but there may still be roots just under the earth surface. If desired, we may be able to grind down some of the lateral roots as well. However this is not always a good idea as it causes more damage to the ground and site. It’s generally ok to leave the tree roots under the earth. Without the stump they will eventually rot and disappear. Either way, we are happy to discuss these issues with you once we assess your site.
